While flying home from Orlando last week, the same questions and observations that run through my head each time I’m on an airplane inevitably resurfaced. Some of these questions I can easily Google at anytime, but never remember to do so once back on the ground.
Over the years, I thoroughly enjoyed collecting the various Starbucks “You Are Here” series of mugs while traveling. Unfortunately, that no longer will be an option, while the new series of travel mugs leave me with a “been there, done that” type of mentality.
The drive from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, including a stop in Cleveland on the way, made for a long day. By the time we arrived, all we wanted was a good meal. Finding a restaurant that night only added to the frustration.
In March, I got to visit New York City for the first time. We got to see a lot of Manhattan in the four days we were there and I can’t wait to someday go back. That said, while there, I couldn’t help make some key comparisons between the “Big Apple” and the “Second City.”
I didn’t think it was a viable option. And yet, the moment the cab took us from Louisville to Jeffersonville via the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge, I’m fairly confident that I knew we’d be returning back later that night on foot.
Little did I know in June 2010 that one stop to a specific restaurant while in Athens, GA would fuel a potentially unhealthy liking to the Waffle House restaurant chain.
It was fun to get away over the long weekend up to Green Bay and Madison, my first time in either town. The cold temperatures were absolutely brutal during the trip, but what else should we have expected for Wisconsin at the end of November?
Unfortunately for me, the perfect comeback usually doesn’t come to me until long after the fact. Timing once again wasn’t on my side this past Saturday night while in St. Louis. The comeback I would have liked to have used came to me days later while back at home.
